Electrocom Networks Provides the Physical Installation of Wi-Fi Access Points For the Scottish Ambulance Service Across Scotland.
Electrocom networks complete a nationwide Wi-Fi installation for the Scottish Ambulance Service, a national organisation who provides care to the people of Scotland. The service is one of 8 Special Boards within NHS Scotland and as the frontline of NHS Services, it is their responsibility to answer and respond to calls from the public, including 999 emergencies therefore it was of paramount important that this service was not disrupted at any point during this multi-site installation.
Electrocom Networks set out to install Wi-Fi Access Points into Ambulance Service sites across Scotland, aiming to improve and increase Wi-Fi coverage at each site. This was an extremely large scale project, covering 127 sites throughout Scotland on the mainland and including the highlands and islands. A project of such a large scale requires great deal of planning and organisation which Electrocom Networks had no problem with providing using a great depth of experience from previous projects of this type.
As well as the necessary Cat5E cabling and containment infrastructure, each site included the installation of 2 Cisco Access Points and 1 antenna at a specific location. Access Points were installed at either ceiling height, or higher if in a garage environment to provide suitable height for area coverage. This method provides efficient connectivity to the internet or remote corporate networks and ensures a communication between all NHS boards in the UK, a fundamental component for the Scottish Ambulance Service. The project was carried out on time and within budget, overcoming all logistical problems.
